The Battle for the Law of God, was the title of a forum presentated on April 29, 2006, by Alan J. Reinach, Esq., president of NARLA – West, and Director of Public Affairs & Religious Liberty for the Pacific Union Conference of Seventh-day Adventists.
The Forum took place at the Loma Linda University Seventh-day Adventist Church in Loma Linda, California.
What Happened? About two hundred people packed the chapel at Loma Linda University Church for the afternoon forum where Reinach discussed the upcoming Ten Commandments Sunday, and the urgency for Americans to return God's law to its rightful location: in the human heart. With so many crying out for moral and spiritual reform in this nation, the only lasting solution is found in the "new covenant" promise of God to transform the inner life by etching His law, not on stone, but on the human heart, changing our attitudes, our motives, our values, and even our desires.
Reinach discussed the legal battles over the Ten Commandments, and engaged the audience in a wide ranging discussion about the role of the Commandments in public life, about civil religion, prayer in schools, and many other similar topics. Many expressed their appreciation for such a clear and convincing approach to God's law. Reinach's presentation was entitled: Commandment Confusion, and will be edited and available on this website shortly.
On May 7, many Christians throughout our nation will observe a Ten Commandments Day, as part of a new movement to recover the moral and spiritual bearings of our society. What remedy do the Ten Commandments offer for our nation, and what dangers? How can America become morally and spiritually great? What do we, Americans, need most? Reinach’s premise is that the real battle is over the gospel itself, which alone can supply the needed remedy. He will contend that the real question facing our nation is: where will God’s law be written?
